ROANOKE RAPIDS, N.C. — A North Carolina judge has ordered a woman to write an essay about being a lady after pleading guilty to yelling at an officer while drunk in public.
Police told The Daily Herald of Roanoke Rapids that Toni Marie King, 21, of Warrenton, Va., was arrested Feb. 3 for stealing beer from a Roanoke Rapids convenience store.
Police said the woman fought with the arresting officer, shouting insults and profanity.
King pleaded guilty to resisting a public officer on June 28 in Halifax County District Court.
Chief District Court Judge Brenda Branch placed her 12 months of supervised probation and ordered her to write a two-page paper titled “How a Lady Should Behave in Public.”
King was also ordered to pay a fine and court costs and told she cannot drink alcohol during her probation.
